Women’s Drum and Dance Ensemble Venus Rising is back!! The ensemble is a multi-ethnic performance troupe dedicated to creating works that uplift and inspire.  This talented group of women percussionists and dancers explores West African, Caribbean, Brazilian and Middle Eastern rhythms, movements and songs. The group works their percussive magic on djembes, dununs, riqs, frame drums, doumbeks, cajons, krins, shekeres, congas, and agogo bells.

 

This year, Venus Rising will present "One Pulse - One Beat" focusing on the group's diversity through their continued exploration on the traditional music of Africa, the Caribbean, Brazil and the Middle East. Through rhythm and movement, Venus Rising strives to empower individuals to break barriers by celebrating diversity.  Fiery beats and hypnotizing dance choreographies create rhythmic entertainment for the soul.
