VIII Miami World Music Festival
Welcome to America

Ensemble 7/4 & Encantus
Welcome to America pays a tribute to the American nation who has welcomed so many South American immigrants looking for a better future. The concert explores 20th century American music and combines a wide variety of American music genres with Caribbean and South American rhythms, resulting in a sound that is fresh and full of joy and color, just like the fusion of cultures in America.

Songs that made immortal great artists and bands are featured in the concert: Louis Armstrong, Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Bee Gees, Metallica, Nirvana, Guns n’ Roses, Earth, Wind and Fire, and KC and The Sunshine Band, among others. The arrangements were carefully made utilizing modern harmonies, full of contrasts and complex rhythms. Ensamble 7/4 will be joined by Encantus Voices, a choral and instrumental group with the ability to interpret all kinds of music from the earliest to the most complex repertoire in symphonic-choral music. Directed by Maibel Troia, a Venezuelan-born musician, who along with Maestro Jose Antonio Abreu, they created the Venezuelan National Choral for "El Sistema".

The 7/4 Ensemble is born out of the friendship of seven young members of El Sistema (the National System of Youth and Children’s Orchestras of Venezuela), who came together to extend the boundaries of academic music to include Venezuelan folk music, Latin American music and jazz. In seven years as a group, they have toured both in Venezuela and internationally in countries such as Argentina, Austria, Brazil, Colombia, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United States. On their European tour 2017, they played a concert at the Berliner Philharmonie with more than 1500 people in the audience. 7/4 Ensemble’s third album Welcome to America, is a Silver Medal winner of The Global Music Awards 2018 in two categories: Best Band and Best Instrumentalists for each of the members of the band. The recording is receiving acclaim from critics all over the world.
