An Evening with Ravel Himself

Silberger - Powell - Vidal

The performance will showcase solo and chamber music of Maurice Ravel and display the virtuosity of Tchaikovsky Competition prizewinner, violinist Eric Silberger; award-winner Canadian harpist, Phoebe Powell; and acclaimed pianist Adolfo Vidal. The Evening WITH Ravel showcases four well-known works: Violin Sonata in G, Tzigane (accompanied by harp), Pavane pour une infante defunte, and the Introduction et Allegro for harp, clarinet, flute and string quartet, featuring fellows from the New World Symphony: Michael Turkell, violin; Stephanie Block, viola; James Churchill, cello; Kelsi Doolitle, clarinet; Alexandra Hoffman, flute.

Ravel 'himself' impersonated by actor Miguel Cervantes, will lead the evening and speak about his life, orchestration, bringing to life the emotional moments of some of these compositions after dealing with biased treatment at the Paris Conservatory. An event not to be missed!
