Professional classical musicians tend to be gypsies, moving from orchestra to orchestra, quartet to quartet, chair to chair. This is no reflection on their level of talent, but more to do with the business of classical music. Unless one of these fine musicians has a full time gig with a major world class symphony, they move around the globe with their instrument in tow and string their engagements together to make a living. On Sunday, October 21, 2012, the Miami Bach Society opens its 2012 - 2013 concert season with a performance of an exciting new ensemble, the Miami Chamber Players. Its principal players include young, award-winning musicians who perform with symphony orchestras and universities in South Florida. Founded by Venezuelan concert pianist and educator, Dr. Adolfo Vidal, the ensemble had its impressive debut at the recent World Music Festival at Florida International University.

The Miami International Music Academy Open Academy continues to offer free musicianship classes throughout the summer to intermediate/advance young students of all instruments. These classes are held on Saturdays at MDC North campus, given in conjunction with South Florida Friends of Classical Music and the College's Music Learning Center program.
Classes covered include a graded sequence of solfege, theory, ear-training and sightsinging classes, bi-weekly workshops/masterclasses, as well as chamber ensembles for those who would like to perform in chamber music ensembles.
